Overview

Weightlifting Classes in Marrakech | Schedule & Booking

The Weightlifting class at Dune Training is dedicated to Olympic lifting: the snatch and the clean & jerk. At 60 Avenue Mohammed V, Gueliz district, Marrakech, you get individualized coaching in a small group of 12 max for 60 minutes. These are the two most technical lifts in all of fitness, and learning them properly requires expert eyes on your movement.

The warm-up lasts 12-15 minutes and follows a weightlifting-specific protocol. We start with 500 m row at moderate pace to raise your heart rate, then targeted mobility: ankles (wall dorsiflexion, deep squat hold 60 s), hips (frog stretch, 90/90, hip flexor stretch), wrists (circles, flexions, extensions on the floor), and shoulders (pass-throughs, overhead squats with empty bar). Then 2-3 sets of empty bar complexes: snatch grip deadlift + snatch pull + muscle snatch + overhead squat.

The technical block runs 30-35 minutes and focuses on one main lift per session. On snatch day: we work positions (start, knee, hip), pulls (1st and 2nd pull), receiving in the overhead squat, and linking the full movement together. On clean & jerk day: positions, pulls, receiving in front squat, recovery to standing, and the jerk (split or power depending on your preference). The coach films your lifts and shows corrections in real time between sets.

Loads are adapted to your technical level, and we only add weight when technique is solid and consistent. A beginner in weightlifting will spend several weeks at the empty bar (20 kg) and light loads (30-40 kg) to automate motor patterns. An advanced lifter works at 70-90% of max with complexes and progressive loading designed to peak for competition or personal bests.

We use specific strengthening exercises to build the positions: snatch balance, tall cleans, segment pulls (pauses at different heights), hang positions, jerk dips, and jerk recoveries. These drills target the specific weak points of each athlete and build strength and confidence in the critical positions of each lift where most failures happen.

This class is for intermediate practitioners who already have good mobility (deep overhead squat, proper front rack position) and a strength base (front squat at 1.2x bodyweight minimum). If you are not there yet, work on mobility and strength in CrossFit or Gymnastics first, then come back when you have the prerequisites.

Bring weightlifting shoes (rigid sole with raised heel), a belt if you use one, and chalk for your hands. Wear fitted clothing so the coach can see your back position and knee tracking clearly. We provide Olympic bars, calibrated bumper plates, lifting platforms, and all the equipment needed for a proper weightlifting session.
